Shopping the Clearance Aisle of the Grocery Store

Shopping at a small town grocery store and trying to save is not always easy.  However, I have fallen in love with the clearance shelves.  Most grocery stores have a small area dedicated to selling items that have damaged packaging, are nearing expiration, or have been replaced with newer merchandise.  These items have prices that are significantly cut for quick sale.

Super sales paired with the right coupons equals awesome savings.  I had to run to my local store, Scott's Hometown Foods, to grab some corn for a barbecue that I did not properly prepare for in advance.  I knew I would be paying extra for this lack of planning, but decided I might as well browse the clearance shelves quickly while I was in the store.  SCORE!

  • (12) Pedigree Little Champions @ $.25
    • Used (2) $2/6, and I cannot figure out which insert it came from, but it expires in July
    • = I got paid $1 to buy all 12 packages!
  • (2) Kraft Garlic Ranch Dressing @ $.89
    • Used $1/2 Kraft Dressing, exp. 7/17/11 (SS 06/19/11)= $.39 each
  • (2) Packages of Corn Cobbettes  @ $4.19- threw them in to cook before taking pic
Total Spent: $9.32
Tax: $1.16
Total Savings: $5.00
